On Wednesday, June 8 at 1 PM, the Library will welcome children’s picture book illustrator and Girard High School class of 2002 alumnus Allyson Hayes. Hayes is the illustrator of the recently released Luna Muna: Outer Space Adventures of a Kid Astronaut by Kelli Gerardi. In the book, a little girl who loves outer space wishes on a shooting star and then discovers a secret power: when she wears her sparkly space helmet, she can float like an astronaut. Ms. Hayes will read the book aloud, discuss her illustrations, and show children how to do art of their own.

Kids in the Kitchen is back on Thursday, June 30 at 4 PM. Aspiring chefs in grades two through six will learn cooking skills from scratch during these events. Library staff will lead the kids through basic recipes--from the assembly of ingredients to preparation of the food to sampling of the finished dish. Registration is required. Please call 330-545-2508 to sign up by the preceding Tuesday so we have time to go to the grocery store.

Registration for Oceans of Possibility summer program begins. Kids and teens can pick up their reading logs, and the whole family can register for events beginning Monday, June 6.

We've decorated the inside of the library for our Oceans of Possibility summer program. Now families can help us transform the outside by turning our sidewalks into seascapes and other aquatic scenes using sidewalk chalk.

Water you doing on June 22? Bring your whole crew to our summer program kickoff for a boatload of fun. You're shore to encounter a mermaid on her throne; you won't need a map to discover a treasure chest. Try out mermaid and pirate gear in our photo ops without leaving land. And teens can make a captain's log journal.
