Library Funding

Don't Cut Ohio Libraries

Thank you to everyone who reached out to their representative about library funding. Your stories were powerful.
On Tuesday, April 8, The Ohio House amended the budget to allocate $490M for libraries in FY 2026 and $500M in FY 2027. While we appreciate the House's efforts to adjust the funding proposal, it’s still $90.8 million short of Governor DeWine’s recommended funding.
The House also changed how library funding is allocated—moving from a percentage of the state’s revenue to a line-item appropriation, making it vulnerable in future state budgets.
Substitute House Bill 96 now moves to the Senate. No action is needed at this time. We’ll let you know if we need your help again.
