Our PopLit Book Group discusses West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge.  Inspired by actual events, the novel is the coming of age story of 17-year-old Woodrow Wilson Nickel, who drives two giraffes cross-country in Depression-era America.   Along the way he will encounter the world's first female zoo director, a crusty old man with a past, a young female photographer with a secret, and assorted reprobates as spotty as the giraffes.  Call Andrea at 330-545-2508 ext. 103 for more information.

Start your week discussing a comforting and engaging read.  This month's book is A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourne, the first in the Veronica Speedwell Mystery series.

Aspiring chefs in grades two through six will learn cooking skills from scratch during these events. Library staff will lead the kids through basic recipes--from the assembly of ingredients to preparation of the food to sampling of the finished dish. Love is a powerful force, but Valentine's Day candy is surprisingly practical.
