• This November, the Girard Free Library is holding our annual Food for Fines; the Library will offer up to $25 in fine forgiveness to anyone who donates at least two non-perishable food items to the Emmanuel Center. The last day to donate is Tuesday, November 26. 
  • Bring the family on Saturday, November 23 at 11 am for a free movie--Harold and the Purple Crayon.
  • Join us at 6:00 p.m. on December 3rd, for the Culture Book Group and discuss A Holly Jolly Diwali by Sonya Lalli, or December 4th for the Popular Literature Book Group and bring your favorite book and introduce it to others.

Before you head into the woods to start a new mushroom foraging hobby or to hunt for mushrooms for your next dish, join mycologist Walt Sturgeon for a program on mushroom diversity and ecology.  He will show distinctive edible and toxic species, share folklore, and describe some insectivorous and intoxicating varieties.  Mr. Sturgeon has over forty years of field experience, and he is an award-winning photographer.  He is the author Appalachian Mushrooms and co-author of Mushrooms of the Northeast.  Call to sign up for this program.

House Plant Swap

Share your plants with other gardeners and take home something new.  Bring a healthy, pest-free plant or cutting (in soil) to swap.   If possible, label your plants and remember to plant them in a pot you don't need back.
